I recently watched a highly inspiring interview with Luis Madrid, CEO of Disy Nearshore. His story reflects the challenges and triumphs many of us face when scaling tech services beyond our borders.
Here are the key takeaways that made me reflect the most on my own 11-year journey of creating digital ecosystems:
🌍 The Mindset Leap: Luis shares how a trip outside El Salvador in 2012 radically transformed his perspective on remote work, giving him the push to leave his traditional job and start his own business. It’s a reminder that our operational vision shouldn’t be limited by our local geography.
🗣️ Knowing How to Sell and Communicate is Core: The first piece of advice Luis gives to any entrepreneur is to learn how to communicate. To get his first international client, he had to invest hours in training, projecting confidence, and knowing how to sell his services. Today, technology makes this path much easier for us. In my day-to-day, after dealing with the failures of multiple platforms, I’ve found that mastering a direct extraction flow with robust tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator and SalesQL is essential for prospecting efficiently and connecting with those ideal clients abroad.
🤝 People-Centric Leadership: Scaling a company isn’t just a technical challenge. Luis emphasizes the importance of building a culture where technical professionals feel valued for who they are, not just for the lines of code they produce. The social impact of democratizing opportunities for local talent is huge.
🏆 The Path to the Forbes Technology Council: Reaching such an exclusive space is no accident; it took him 4 years of preparation. It requires building constant authority in the industry, cultivating strong relationships, and passing a meticulous three-phase interview process that evaluates both the personal profile and the business’s impact.
It’s exciting to see Salvadoran talent standing out at this level in the global industry and proving that geographical barriers are meant to be broken.
